NSTAR has a generous Tuition Assistance Program that shares the cost of our employees higher education, removing some of the financial burden.
Supervisor Training Program
In the Supervisor Training Program, recent
engineering graduates have the exciting opportunity to learn various
aspects of the utility industry first-hand from experienced industry professionals on the job.
More detailed information on this career
opportunity is available in our
program
brochure, which includes a program summary, requirements, curriculum and how
to apply.
“I am learning tremendous things about myself. I am learning something new
at every mentoring session. I am testing the waters with this newfound
information and passing it along to my colleagues.”

Mentoring Partnerships
Being the new kid on the block isn't easy. That is why
NSTAR supports newly hired leaders
through the Mentoring Partnership Program. Many of
our new supervisors, managers and directors participate
in a 16-week program where they meet with an NSTAR
mentor, often a member of our senior leadership team,
who acts as a professional guide as you navigate a new corporate culture.
Coaching
If employees are interested in exploring career options
at the company, NSTAR's skilled Human Resources
representatives are always available to work with them
on career coaching. This coaching process:
-
Supports and facilitates continuous learning based on career aspirations and personal goals.
- Helps employees explore alternatives to accomplishing goals and overcoming obstacles.
- Fosters a career-thinking process that focuses on trying new possibilities.
Onboarding
The first few days, weeks and months
at a new company can sometimes be overwhelming. That's
why we
support all new employees with a comprehensive Onboarding
Program. This program helps foster a positive transition
into the company through:
-
Working with their managers to create an environment that best meets the needs of a new employee.
-
Formal and informal networking opportunities, as well as designating a “buddy" at the company.
-
Multiple training opportunities.
-
Appropriate on-the-job assignments.
“I love the variety of work and sense of accomplishment. Over the years, I
have been given many opportunities to grow.”

NSTAR E-Learning
E-Learning is web-based, hands-on training that gives
employees the benefit of learning within a simulation,
but has the look and feel of a live presentation.
E-Learning means employees do not need to sit in a
classroom or schedule a course, the learning can be
accessed anytime through NSTAR’s intranet.
