Starting July 1, 2001, the Cape Light Compact began managing energy efficiency programs for electric customers located on Cape Cod and Martha's Vineyard. NSTAR Electric no longer offers energy efficiency programs to customers in this area.
However, NSTAR Electric continues to offer efficiency programs to its other cities and towns. The Massachusetts Department of Public Utilities (DPU) approved the Cape Light Compact's energy efficiency plan on April 6, 2001.
The Electric Industry Restructuring Act of 1997 enables municipal aggregators, such as the Cape Light Compact, to provide energy efficiency programs to customers within its aggregation area.
NSTAR Electric will continue to provide reliable electric service to customers on Cape Cod and Martha's Vineyard. This service will continue to provide the delivery of power, meter reading, billing, and providing other customer services in the field and through our call center.
