NSTAR VP Interviewed in NPR Story on Distributed Generation
NPR's Chris Arnold interviewed NSTAR Vice President of
Customer Care Penni McLean-Conner for a story about
distributed generation that aired nationwide on "Morning
Edition." NSTAR believes distributed generation (DG), if
handled correctly, makes sense for certain customers.
NSTAR currently has 186 DG projects on its system -
almost as many as all other Massachusetts utilities
combined. We have a straightforward process for
connecting these projects to our system, including a
dedicated program manager and a one-page application
form.
To protect customers from subsidizing those who want to
leave our system, NSTAR has a standby rate for DG
customers who want backup utility power available 24/7
if needed.
