NSTAR Electric and Gas is pleased to name veteran journalist and communications coach Christina McKenna as its new Director of Media Relations. McKenna brings to the company a wealth of communication experience, including more than 10 years as a television news reporter and two years on the faculty of Suffolk University’s Department of Communication and Journalism.
“With her impressive breadth of experience combined with her enthusiasm and passion for communications, we’re elated to have Christina as part of the NSTAR team,” said Joseph Nolan, NSTAR Senior Vice President of Customer Care & Corporate Relations.
Through most of her career, McKenna has been on the frontlines of major news events; covering politics, courts, business, and breaking news for television stations from coast to coast. Locally, she has worked for both Channels 5 and 7, where she covered last summer’s multiple-state blackout, the aftermath of September 11, and politics at every level of government. McKenna has also reported for TV stations in Seattle; Richmond, Virginia; and Burlington, Vermont.
More recently McKenna has taught writing, reporting, and ethical decision-making at Suffolk University where she helped redesign the journalism curriculum and spearheaded mid-career training programs for professional journalists across New England. She has also worked as a private consultant, coaching business and government leaders to more effectively communicate with their colleagues, customers, and the public.

McKenna holds a Master’s Degree from the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism in New York, and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Chicago.
