NSTAR Electric and Gas is
pleased to introduce veteran television news reporter
Caroline Allen as the newest member of its Media
Relations team. A native Baystater, Allen brings
extensive media experience and utility knowledge to her
new role as Manager of Media Relations.
“Having covered the energy beat as a reporter, Caroline comes to NSTAR with demonstrated enthusiasm and expertise on utility topics,” said Joseph Nolan, NSTAR’s Senior Vice President of Customer & Corporate Relations. “We’re thrilled to have her joining the NSTAR team.”
Most recently, Allen covered utility, business and
government issues as well as breaking news for WCAX-TV
in Burlington, Vermont. She was honored for a series of
reports filed from the massive Hydro-Quebec generating
facilities in Northern Canada, and for a week-long
series exploring how Vermont’s power is generated and
delivered. She also tracked the citing and planning of a
major transmission line upgrade and followed a
controversial movement to develop wind farms in the
state. Previously, Allen wrote for Bridge News Financial
Newswire, producing daily market updates and reporting
on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange.
“Whether we’re announcing system upgrades or gearing up
for an approaching storm, NSTAR values the media’s role
in getting those stories to the public,” said Nolan. “We
know Caroline will be a great asset in helping us convey
important information to our customers and neighbors.”
Allen holds a master’s degree from Northwestern
University’s Medill School of Journalism and a bachelor
of arts in Communications from Fairfield University in
Connecticut. She joins Media Relations Director,
Christina McKenna; and Senior Media Specialist Mike
Durand in the department. Allen will be based out of
NSTAR’s corporate headquarters at the Prudential Tower
in Boston and can be reached at 617-424-2460 or at
caroline.allen@nstar.com.
